RWT Family Business & Legacy Practice Joins FAMDAY 2026 to Support Sustainable Business Succession Across Generations

RWT International Law Office, through its Family Business & Legacy Practice, participated in FAMDAY 2026, alongside Family Business Asia and Ajarn Nawapon Wiriyakulkit, RWT’s strategic partner in family governance and Family Constitution advisory.

FAMDAY 2026 brought together next-generation business leaders and successors from family enterprises across a wide range of industries, creating a platform for discussion on business transition, succession and the long-term sustainability of family-owned businesses.

At RWT, we believe that successful succession involves much more than the transfer of shares, ownership or family assets. A sustainable transition requires an appropriate framework that allows the business, family and family wealth to evolve together across generations.

Accordingly, succession planning may involve a combination of legal, ownership and governance arrangements, including family business and holding structures, shareholders’ agreements, Family Constitutions, family governance frameworks, business and wealth succession planning, estate planning, family asset protection, and mechanisms designed to prevent and manage future disputes among family members.

RWT’s Family Business & Legacy Practice focuses on developing the legal architecture required to support the continuity of family enterprises. This may include structuring ownership and holding arrangements, defining shareholder rights and responsibilities, planning the transfer of business interests and family assets, and establishing mechanisms to reduce potential conflicts between family members and business stakeholders.

Working alongside Family Business Asia enables us to integrate this legal framework with the broader dimension of family governance and the Family Constitution process.

This multidisciplinary approach is intended to align legal structures with the family’s vision, values, relationships and long-term objectives, while providing greater clarity regarding how ownership, management and family participation may evolve from one generation to the generation.

One of the most important principles of family business succession is that planning should begin before a dispute occurs.

When family members are able to discuss their expectations, roles and shared vision openly, they have a greater opportunity to design governance and legal structures proactively rather than attempting to resolve fundamental structural issues after conflict has already emerged.

RWT was pleased to be part of FAMDAY 2026 and to engage with the next generation of Thai family business leaders who are preparing not only to inherit businesses, but also to become responsible stewards of their families’ businesses, assets and legacies.
