On March 27, 2024, this same-sex marriage bill was introduced previously by the Prime Minister at the recent DEI event earlier this month.
The bill was then submitted to the House of Representatives which was then passed by a an overwhelmingly vote of 400 to 10, further revealing the Cultural Mindset of all Thais in allowing individuals of different genders to marry. The bills suggest changes to 68 sections within the Thai Civil and Commercial Code, aiming to promote gender equality and diversity.
Following this step, the House will submit the draft Marriage Equal Act for consideration in the Senate’s agenda 2-3, pending approval. The Prime Minister will then present the draft to His Majesty the King for announcement in the Royal Gazette in 120.
