On March 25, 2025, Thailand’s Department of Intellectual Property (DIP) convened a strategic focus group with key IP rights owners to enhance the nation’s approach to combating counterfeiting.

This collaborative initiative brought together government officials and representatives from leading IP law firms to develop a more coordinated and effective framework for intellectual property protection in Thailand.

The meeting concentrated on four critical areas:

1) Developing comprehensive monitoring strategies for high-risk tourism zones
2) Creating seamless enforcement between online and offline channels
3) Addressing emerging threats, particularly the growing issue of foreign nominees causing significant damage to brand integrity and Thailand’s economy
4) Identifying enforcement challenges and strengthening legal remedies

This partnership represents an important step in Thailand’s ongoing commitment to intellectual property protection and its efforts to be removed from the USTR Watch List.
