Bangkok, January 23, 2025 – Today marks a historic milestone in Thailand and echoes throughout the world as the Act Amending the Civil and Commercial Code (No. 24) B.E. 2567 officially comes into force.

This landmark legislation, known as the Marriage Equality Act, significantly expands the rights and legal recognition of individuals who previously had limited options.

The Marriage Equality Act revises over 77 sections of the civil code, ensuring comprehensive equality. It now allows individuals to officially register their marriages and enjoy the same legal rights and benefits as other married couples. This includes access to additional legislation supporting these rights in various key areas.

To celebrate this momentous occasion, marriage registrations under the new law commenced at various locations. A grand “Mass Wedding Ceremony” was held at Paragon Hall, Siam Paragon, with over 200 couples participating. Similar events took place at district offices across Bangkok.

This progressive step forward, supported by legislation, highlights the commitment that Thailand has shown to equality and inclusivity, shining a positive light on a bright future for all.

Congratulations to all!
